In colonial Merida, back when the indigenous population didn’t know how to read, all of our street corners had names. This corner has a plaque with a stork on it, almost certainly had a statue of a stork on the roof of one of the corner houses, and to this day has several small businesses on this street bearing that name. This reasonably priced remodeled home just four blocks from the lively park of Santiago has everything you could ask for in a vacation rental or winter home. Remodeled by the current residents, it boasts of all the conveniences and great use of space. The solid wood doors and the double glass windows on the front will keep out street noise and dirt, the swimming pool and eye-pleasing lawn at the back, facing the north, will provide you with a place to relax in the afternoons. The house consists of a long entry on the left, actually two rooms which can be used as study, breakfast room, library, art gallery, small sitting room, etc. and then on the left you will find a comfortable living room or TV room, then a bedroom with a bath. Passing through the dining room, with the kitchen to the right, you will find another bedroom (currently the baby’s room). There is plenty of room in the back yard to add another bathroom on to this room should there be a need. The house also includes a laundry/storage room. Across the street there is a parking lot that rents out monthly parking spaces for only 14 dollars a month, and right next door you can get your bicycle repaired! What are you waiting for? |
